To receive your notifications, your visitors need to allow notifications through the browser prompt.

The browser prompt pops up when a visitor first comes to your online store. When the visitor clicks on 'Allow' on the browser prompt, they become your subscriber. But if they click on 'Block', it won't be shown to them again.

Custom Prompt

The Custom Prompt is a subscription method that shows a widget at the top center of the screen. It can be customized to show copy written by you and you can use this to explain why your shoppers should subscribe to your store.

Using the Custom Prompt method can reduce the block rate (clicks on 'Block' instead of 'Allow', compared to the number of your native prompt being shown) and allows you to re-ask for permissions even though a store visitor has not accepted the first time.

See how it works:

By editing the text, CTA and color of the widget to suit your brand, you can potentially attract more people to subscribe to notifications.

When the visitor accepts permission to receive notifications on this widget, the native browser prompt will be shown. The visitor can then click 'Allow' to be added to your subscriber list.

If the visitor, doesn't accept the permission initially, the native browser prompt will not be shown to them, helping you reduce the block rate.

In the case where someone might have blocked notifications initially and now want to subscribe, PushOwl will mention the steps on how they can remove the block and subscribe to your store.

How to enable it:

1. Login to PushOwl and navigate to the "Opt-Ins" page

2. Select the Custom Prompt radio button.

3. You can then customize the various elements of the opt-in.

Opt-in details:

  • Title: The main copy that you can add to get store visitors to subscribe.
  • Description: Add more details about your push campaigns, offers, and more within the opt-in.
  • "Allow" button label: Copy of the button you want store visitors to click on to subscribe. The copy needs to be a strong CTA to convert the store visitor.
  • "Later" button label: Copy of the button store visitors would click on if they don't want to opt-in.
  • "Allow" button background color: You can customize the color of the "Allow" button.
  • "Allow" button text color: You can change the color of the text within the "Allow" button.

Opt-in timings: Add a time delay for when you want the opt-in to be shown after the store visitor lands on the page. You can change this for desktop and mobile.

Opt-in position: Pick where you want the opt-in to show up on your store visitor's desktop and mobile.

I want to customize which pages the opt-in shows up on. How can I do that?

Can I write the Custom Prompt copy in my native language?

Yes, your custom prompt copy can be written in the language of your choice. However, do note that the prompt does not translate to your subscriber's native language. So, when writing your Custom Prompt copy, ensure that it is accessible to all your subscribers.
