Read your popup analytics

How to read the impressions-to-conversions funnel and pinpoint where visitors drop off.

Written by Engineering team

TL;DR. Each popup has an impressions to conversions funnel. Read the funnel top-down, not just the bottom number. Where you lose visitors tells you what to fix.

Where to find analytics

  • Forms sidebar nav, opens the overall Forms analytics page (URL: /popups).

  • Forms > Campaigns, click any popup, see per-popup stats.

The headline metrics

Impressions

The number of times the popup was shown. Counted once per visitor per session (so the frequency cap doesn't inflate the number).

Conversions (subscriptions)

The number of completed signups. If the visitor gave us at least one of email, SMS, or web push, that's a conversion.

Conversion rate

Conversions divided by Impressions. The single most important number.

  • 5 to 8%: typical for a well-targeted popup.

  • 8 to 15%: very good (often gamified or strong discount).

  • Below 2%: something's wrong; check Why isn't my list growing?

Revenue attributed

If your popup includes a discount code, we track checkouts that used that code and attribute the revenue back to the popup.

  • Static codes: any checkout using that code, within the attribution window.

  • Unique pool codes: precisely tracked, since each code maps to one subscriber.

The funnel

Each multi-step popup produces a per-step funnel:

Impressions ↓Teaser clicked / popup opened ↓Micro Commitment "Yes" ↓Email submitted ↓SMS submitted ↓Web Push allowed ↓Reward shown (conversion)

What to do with the funnel

  • Big drop at Micro Commitment: the question is bad, or the discount isn't compelling.

  • Big drop at Email: copy or design issue, or visitors don't trust the offer.

  • Big drop at SMS: SMS is heavier; expect 30 to 50% drop here regardless.

  • Big drop at Web Push: the prompt language or icon scared people away.

Date range

Default is "last 7 days." Change via the date picker. Compare to the previous period to spot trends.

Native browser prompt analytics

The Native Browser Prompt (in the Additional options section of the campaigns page) has its own impressions and Allow / Block stats. It runs alongside popups; numbers don't overlap.
