How PushOwl and Brevo Work Together

PushOwl is a Shopify app built on top of Brevo's marketing platform. When you install PushOwl from the Shopify App Store, and complete email onboarding a Brevo account is automatically created for you behind the scenes. This means PushOwl is your Shopify-native interface to Brevo's powerful email, SMS, WhatsApp, and web push marketing tools.

Think of it this way: PushOwl is the front door for Shopify merchants to access Brevo's marketing infrastructure. You get the convenience of a Shopify-optimized experience through PushOwl, with all the power of Brevo's delivery and automation engine running underneath.

Do I Have One Account or Two?

You have one unified account. When you sign up through PushOwl on Shopify, a linked Brevo account is created automatically using your store's email. You do not need to create a separate Brevo account, and you should not sign up for Brevo independently if you are already using PushOwl.

Your PushOwl account and Brevo account share the same underlying data, including your contact lists, campaign history, and automation workflows. They are two views of the same account, not two separate accounts.

Which Dashboard Should I Use?

For most day-to-day tasks as a Shopify merchant, you should use the PushOwl dashboard (accessible from your Shopify admin or at dashboard.pushowl.io). The PushOwl dashboard is specifically designed for Shopify merchants and gives you a streamlined experience for managing web push notifications, email campaigns, SMS, and automations tied to your Shopify store.

The Brevo dashboard (at app.brevo.com) gives you access to more advanced Brevo-specific features. You may use it for tasks like managing transactional email templates, viewing detailed email deliverability reports, or configuring advanced automation workflows that go beyond what is available in the PushOwl interface.

How Does Pricing Work?

PushOwl has its own pricing plans that are separate from standard Brevo pricing. When you subscribe to a plan through PushOwl, you get access to Brevo's features at PushOwl-specific rates, which are often more favorable for Shopify merchants than signing up for Brevo directly.

Key things to know about pricing:

Billing starts through Shopify. When you first subscribe to a web push or email plan, billing is processed through Shopify's billing system, so charges appear on your Shopify invoice.

Billing moves to Stripe if you add SMS or WhatsApp. The moment you purchase an SMS or WhatsApp plan, all your existing billing (including web push and email) automatically migrates from Shopify billing to Stripe. This consolidates everything under one payment platform.

You do not need a separate Brevo subscription. Your PushOwl plan already includes access to Brevo's email, SMS, and automation features. There is no need to pay for a separate Brevo plan.

What Happens to My Existing Brevo Data?

If you already had a Brevo account before installing PushOwl, here is what you should know:

Your existing Brevo contacts and data are preserved. Installing PushOwl does not delete or overwrite any data in your existing Brevo account. Your contact lists, email templates, and campaign history remain intact.

Shopify contacts sync into your Brevo account. Once PushOwl is installed, your Shopify customer data will begin syncing into your Brevo contact lists. This adds to your existing contacts rather than replacing them.

If your Brevo email matches your Shopify store email, PushOwl will link to your existing Brevo account automatically. If the emails are different, a new Brevo account may be created. In that case, reach out to our support team and we can help merge or link the accounts.

Common Questions

I see "Brevo" in some places and "PushOwl" in others. Is that normal?

Yes. Since PushOwl is built on Brevo's platform, you will see Brevo branding in certain areas like email footers, the Brevo dashboard, and some transactional email settings. The PushOwl dashboard and Shopify app interface will show PushOwl branding. Both are part of the same service.

Can I log into Brevo directly with my PushOwl credentials?

Yes. Your PushOwl login credentials work on the Brevo dashboard at app.brevo.com. Use the same email and password you use for PushOwl.

Will changes I make in Brevo show up in PushOwl?

In most cases, yes. Since both dashboards connect to the same underlying account, changes to contacts, email templates, and automations will be reflected across both interfaces. However, web push notification settings are only managed through PushOwl.

I already pay for a Brevo plan. Do I need to pay for PushOwl too?

If you want to use web push notifications on your Shopify store, you will need a PushOwl plan for that feature. For email and SMS, your existing Brevo plan may cover those channels. Contact our support team to understand how your current Brevo plan interacts with PushOwl pricing so you are not paying twice for the same features.
