Shoppers are sometimes interested in a product but are hoping for a price reduction before they are motivated to purchase it. In such situations, the Price Drop Alert helps visitors to subscribe to alerts about the price drop of a product.

Here's the workflow showing how you can send price drop alerts to your subscribers:

1. Set up the Price Drop automation on your dashboard.

2. A visitor opts in for price drop alerts via a flyout widget or a custom button.

3. The subscribers are added to the price drop ‘Waitlist’. This Waitlist can be seen on the PushOwl dashboard, on the Price Drop alert page.

4. When the price of the product drops, PushOwl will automatically send out the price drop alert to the subscribers who want to be notified.

Enabling Price Drop Alerts

1. Select 'Automation' on your Dashboard and click on 'Price Drop'

2. Click on the switch next to Price Drop Alerts to enable it.

3. Click on the edit icon to customize the notification copy.

4. Click on ‘Save’ after you edit the notification to your liking.

Note: Don't change the following parts of the message:

1. {{product_name}} - Placeholder for the name of the product that the visitor has subscribed to.

2. {{subscribed_price}} - Placeholder that shows the original price of the product when the visitor first subscribed to alerts about it.
3. {{current_price}} - Placeholder that shows the new price of the product after the price drops.

Customizing the Price Drop Widget

This widget allows visitors to subscribe to be alerted about the reduction in a product's price.

To customize this widget,

1. Click on the 'Widgets' tab on the ‘Price Drop’ page.

2. Edit the following:

1. Message before subscribing: Visitors see this message on a product page when they expand the widget.

2. Button to subscribe: This button is a call-to-action to get the visitor to subscribe.

3. Message after subscribing: This is a confirmation message shown after subscribing.

Reports

On your Price Drop page, you can view a report of subscribers who opted into your price drop alert. Click on the 'Reports' tab on the Price Drop Page.

1. Wait List: View a list of products and the number of people waiting for the product’s price decrease.

2. Sent List: Shows all the impressions, and clicks from the price drop notifications.

Opting into Price Drop Alerts

You can set up the option for visitors to subscribe to alerts in 2 ways:

1. Flyout Widget

This is the default method for visitors to subscribe to alerts. When someone visits a product page, and want to be alerted to a price drop, they see a bell icon on the bottom left corner of the screen. When it's clicked, a flyout widget appears, and visitors have the option to subscribe.

2. Adding custom buttons with code

If you want to create a native design element which matches the theme of your online store, you can create a custom button for price drop subscriptions. Read more here for information on how you can implement this.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. If someone opts in for a price drop alert, will they be able to receive other notifications as well?

Yes. When someone opts in for a price drop alert, they automatically become a store subscriber. This means that they will receive other notifications (including campaigns, abandoned cart reminders, and other automated notifications) sent from your store.

2. Will a subscriber who has opted in to receive alerts about a product's price drop receive a notification every time the product’s price reduces?

No. Whenever someone subscribes to price drop alerts to any product, they will receive the alert only the first time the product’s price drops after they've subscribed. If they want to receive notifications about the product's price reduction again, they need to re-subscribe to the price drop alert.
